- Amaranta and the Padre Cruceyra Restaurant, both located in Algeciras, improve the aid they offer their users thanks to Fundación Cepsa
- People with disabilities from Los Barrios get to enjoy vacations that meet their needs
Fundación Cepsa has discovered at first hand how things are going with the projects that won the last Social Value Awards. On this second occasion, the Awards have focused on providing aid to people with disabilities and other members of the most underprivileged sectors of society.
One of the winning organisms from the 2018 Awards was the Amaranta Association of Algeciras, which has been able to provide furniture and computer equipment at its help center for migrant women and sex workers. Susana Pérez, one of the managers, explained during the Fundación Cepsa’s visit how they operate at the center to detect cases of human trafficking, also offering both Spanish classes and counseling in terms of rights, health and resources to newly-arrived migrant women. The objective is for the center to provide a safe haven for these women, whether they be prostitutes, victims of trafficking or migrants. The contribution of Fundación Cepsa has also made it possible to provide both leisure activities and self-esteem workshops at the center.
Meanwhile the Social Value Awards have enabled the Padre Cruceyra restaurant run by Caritas in Algeciras to equip itself with a new delivery truck so that it can carry on its work of providing a full meal per day to about a hundred people in need of this service. During the visit by Fundación Cepsa, the restaurant managers stressed just how useful the new truck has been in helping them improve their service.
Finally, in the nearby town of Los Barrios the La Montera Association also won an Award, which enabled it to organize a pleasure trip to Cordoba especially designed for people with disabilities, so that they could take full advantage of their visit to this famous Andalusian city.
