Key topics at the First Reliability Seminar hosted by Fundación Cepsa at Cepsa’s Palos site under the slogan “Making industry more reliable” included plant utilization, process safety and operational efficiency –concepts that are crucial to optimizing operations and boosting the profitability of the sector. Representatives from leading companies in the sector and teaching staff from Huelva University came together at these workshops to discuss the culture and benefits of reliability. All have a direct impact on plant usage and availability as well as asset life-cycle costs, and are therefore clear building blocks for profitability and competitiveness. As well as inviting its own staff and employees from some of its preferred suppliers, Cepsa welcomed academia through the Fundación Cepsa Chair, emphasizing the value of collaborative teaching between universities and the business community. Chair director, Agustín Galán, underlined this during his welcome speech, also highlighting the key role of innovation and continuous improvement in this field; both essential to achieving the highest efficiency levels in the sector, which is one of Cepsa’s top priorities..

Cepsa and reliability
The concept of “reliability” has shaped Cepsa’s work for over 20 years. Since then, it has evolved from just being concerned with the reliability of machinery (technical) to managing asset reliability (organizational), thereby building a reliability-focused culture within the business.
