Fundación Cepsa invited the winning school children in the different categories to the ceremony, accompanied by their families and teachers, turning the ceremony into a social event for the different schools.
Jose Antonio Agüera and Jose Antonio Candela congratulated all the winning pupils for their work, which they said was creative and of a high standard, and praised the commitment and efforts of the teachers involved in this innovative approach to teaching, sparking an interest in and bringing the pupils closer to the world of energy and environmental protection. Agüera also thanked the Andalusia regional government for its ongoing support and collaboration, without which it would be practically impossible to run the two educational programs.
Government representative for education, Vicente Zarza, also congratulated Fundación Cepsa for these initiatives, which have become a well-established part of the province’s education system. They gave special praise for continuing them year after year in an ongoing effort to encourage school children and their teachers to care for and protect the environment, and nurture dialog with the education sector.
Fundación Cepsa and the educational programs
The World Wetlands Day education program, organized by Fundación Cepsa in partnership with the regional delegations of Education, Environment and Land Use Planning, is aimed at elementary school children and takes place at the time of World Wetlands Day. Throughout the month of February, pupils visit the Laguna Primera de Palos lagoon –a protected wetland– to find out more about the value and importance of this kind of natural space.
Energy Workbooks is an educational program aimed at pupils from grade 10 to 12 and on vocational courses. It focuses on teaching subjects related to the world of energy, oil and petrochemicals through a web platform. This program is supplemented with a day at Cepsa’s facilities in Huelva, where students reinforce what has been covered in class with a guided visit around the production area and the Laguna Primera de Palos nature reserve
