With a very generous reaction from the people of Gran Canaria, the Christmas House raised 16,524 euros, which will be allocated to various social projects assisting children
A total of 12,874 people visited the Fundación Cepsa Christmas House between 15 December and 5 January, the highest number in the six editions held to date.
A total of 16,524 euros were raised thanks to the 2-euro voluntary admission fee to the Christmas House, which on this occasion was on the first floor of the Las Arenas Shopping Center. This is the highest amount ever raised in all the years that the Christmas House has been organized. The funds will be used for NGOs in Gran Canaria to carry out children-focused social initiatives (the names of the NGOs will be announced soon).
The Fundación Cepsa Christmas House has become one of the Christmas highlights in the capital of Gran Canaria, and is very popular with and locals and tourists. Representatives of the Fundación Cepsa will shortly hold a meeting with the administrations to determine how the proceeds from this initiative will be used for charity purposes.
Nearly 2,500 people belonging to numerous non-profit associations and social groups on the island have been able to attend this Christmas activity free of charge thanks to the collaboration of the Department of Social Policy of the Regional Council of Gran Canaria and the Department of Social Policies of the Government of the Canary Islands.
Local neighbors’ associations with high levels of social exclusion and young people in children's centers and shelters, were also admitted free of charge. More than 1,200 schoolchildren from different schools on the island visited the Christmas House before the end of classes for the festive season.
For the sixth consecutive year, this recreational, educational and solidarity space has also organized a collection of new toys for charity that were delivered to the Casa de Galicia in Las Palmas to be handed out to low-income families
