- Professionals from Cepsa will take part as volunteers in Inspiring Girl to help break down gender stereotypes and support new generations of girls through shared experience
- This initiative is carried out jointly with Cepsa's Diversity and Inclusion program and aims to promote girls' interest in careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics
- Several meetings will be held throughout 2020 and 2021 in schools in Madrid, Algeciras, Huelva and Tenerife
The Inspiring Girls Foundation, which works to improve self-esteem and professional ambition in school-age girls and to avoid self-imposed barriers due to gender, and Fundación Cepsa together with Cepsa's Diversity and Inclusion Program, reached a collaboration agreement today that aims to promote the professional ambition of girls in scientific careers with a multitude of proposals, tools and awareness activities.
Since the proportion of women in some areas is still very low, Fundación Cepsa has joined the Inspiring Girls Foundation initiative to promote the inclusion of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers. To achieve this goal, Fundación Cepsa together with Cepsa's Diversity and Inclusion Program have begun laying the groundwork for the first group of more than 50 company employees who will volunteer to share their personal and professional experience with the girls and encourage them to choose careers related to these academic disciplines, as well as help to eliminate prejudices associated with incorporating women into these professional fields.
These meetings, which will encourage gender stereotypes to be broken down and support new generations of girls through shared experience, will be held in 2020 and 2021 in schools in Tenerife, Algeciras, Huelva, and Madrid. Fundación Cepsa will therefore consider providing in-person training for the volunteers at its headquarters, as long as the relevant health regulations can be guaranteed.
For Marta Pérez Dorao, the president of the Inspiring Girls Foundation, "joining forces with Fundación Cepsa, with whom we share many values, will allow us to continue making progress in our mission to break down gender stereotypes and create positive references among girls and young women."
Cristina Ortiz, the director of Fundación Cepsa, notes: “At Fundación Cepsa, we are committed to diversity, especially when it comes to the inclusion of the female collective in academic disciplines that are strongly tied to our founding company. Through Cepsa's Diversity program, our goal is to promote the extraordinary professional talent of women in the company and inspire future generations. Therefore, we want thank the Inspiring Girls Foundation for launching this initiative and encouraging women's access to STEM careers in order to break down gender barriers and raise awareness of the need for diversity in any professional branch.”
