- Mercedes Colombo, Eva Pajares and Diego Herrera, together with the heads of the enclave and those of Fundación Cepsa, have marked the objective of promoting research and education.
- Cepsa and Fundación Cepsa have been collaborating for more than two decades in the development and maintenance of Carteia.
Firstly, a working meeting was held to discuss the work that is currently being carried out at the archaeological site with the support of Fundación Cepsa and the direction in which the collaboration activity is to be directed, with research and education as its hallmarks, involving other sectors of Andalusian society in order to work together to give Carteia the drive it needs.
Once the meeting was over, the members of the Andalusian Regional Government and Fundación Cepsa toured the archaeological site of Carteia from the Forum to the Roman Circus to see first-hand the current state of the work to adapt and enhance the site.
Cepsa's collaboration with the Carteia archaeological site, owned by the Andalusian Regional Government, spans more than two decades and is now carried out through Fundación Cepsa. Over this time, different actions have been carried out such as the scientific studies, conservation, and enhancement of the Roman Circus, the visitors’ trail and historiography, historical cartography, paleo-environmental studies, and paleo-topography studies, among others. Thanks to the constant support and close relationship between both institutions and the involvement of their professionals, it has been possible to carry out not only minimal restoration and maintenance on the ruins and buildings, but also archaeological research and restoration, as well as sharing information with the scientific community and society as a whole.
