The Fundación Cepsa Chair at the University of Cadiz (UCA), located at the Polytechnic School of Algeciras, held its spring committee meeting online, during which the activities planned for 2021 were presented.
The committee meeting was attended by María Jesús Mosquera, Vice-Rector of Scientific Policy; María del Mar Cerbán, Vice-Rector of the Bahía de Algeciras Campus; Ignacio Turias, Coordinator of the UCA Chairs; Gabriel González, Head of the Polytechnic School of Algeciras; and Francisco Trujillo, Director of the Fundación Cepsa Chair. Participants on behalf of the Foundation included Juan José Gómez, from the Talent Management area of Cepsa; Joana Frontela, director of the Research Center of Cepsa; and Jesús Velasco and Estrella Blanco, responsible for Fundación Cepsa in Andalusia and Campo de Gibraltar, respectively.
The committee served to review the activities conducted in 2020, about which the Fundación Cepsa Chair reported at the beginning of the year with the publication of the Report, and those planned for 2021, with special attention to the recording of the online course on Introduction to the Refining Industry that is being developed in the audiovisual room of the Polytechnic School of Algeciras, a space financed by the Chair, which is expected to be ready this year. Meanwhile, the doctoral thesis on the determination of volatile and aromatic components in kerosene waxes (electronic nose), which is approaching its halfway point this year, continues.
Over 190 students from the Polytechnic School in Algeciras and the Bahía de Algeciras Campus benefited last year from activities such as the Chair Awards, the training course on intensification in oil refining and the training initiative for employability Powering You Experience, which was conducted online because of the pandemic and for which a mixed formula is being studied for the 2021 edition.
The Fundación Cepsa Chairs
Fundación Cepsa Chairs at the Universities of Cadiz, Huelva, Seville, La Laguna, and Polytechnic in Madrid, are continually strengthened thanks to the contributions and involvement of the Company's professionals and the academic institutions committed to improving research, training, knowledge flow and innovation.
Fundación Cepsa Chairs have allowed thousands of students to approach the labor world and bring university professors closer to the reality of the energy and chemical sectors. The exchange of knowledge and experience between Cepsa professionals, university teachers, and students has meant, for two decades, the professional enrichment of all of them. For all these reasons, today Cepsa is a great ally of said universities.
