- The cards can be used to buy fuel for the vehicles used by the organization in its charity work in the region
- The donation is part of the Food Bank's Gran Recogida Food Drive.
Despite the fact that this year, due to safety reasons because of Covid-19, the Gran Recogida de Alimentos food drive that Cepsa volunteers annually participate in could not be carried out in person, Fundación Cepsa in San Roque still donated fuel cards to the Campo de Gibraltar Food Bank to be used to buy fuel for the vehicles the organization uses in its charity work.
On behalf of Fundación Cepsa in San Roque, Estrella Blanco presented this donation to the head of the Food Bank, José Serrano, who praised the wonderful results of the previous Gran Recogida de Alimentos food drive which, despite being virtual, collected €140,000 in donations for Campo de Gibraltar, which were later turned into tons of food, and underscored the huge display of support from the Campo de Gibraltar people during this initiative. Serrano highlighted "the importance of this collaboration with Fundación Cepsa because we have three vehicles that are constantly on the move. I also want to recognize volunteers’ work and the help they've provided us in previous years and thank Fundación Cepsa not only for this support, but also for all the help they have given us."
This donation from Fundación Cepsa comes as part of the food drive charity campaign that was organized during the few last weeks of 2020 by the Food Banks of Spain through virtual donations and at the cash registers in collaborating supermarkets. Fundación Cepsa has once again upheld its commitment to collaborate with this initiative by providing fuel cards, although this year Cepsa employees could not volunteer due to Covid-19.
Fundación Cepsa has been helping to organize the food drive campaigns run in Huelva for many years. Furthermore, two charity Food Bank projects in Campo de Gibraltar received Social Value Awards in 2009 and 2012. These awards are made annually to raise awareness of, and provide funding to, initiatives run by organizations and groups working to enhance the well-being and social inclusion of people in Campo de Gibraltar.
In 2020, Fundación Cepsa also collaborated with the Campo de Gibraltar Food Bank on several occasions to offset the effects of the health crisis with a donation of eight tons of hygiene and cleaning products, in collaboration with the Persán Foundation, and another donation of €260,000 to FESBAL, part of which was allocated to the regional entity.
