The jury for the Fundación Cepsa Social Value Awards in Campo de Gibraltar chose the projects submitted by Fundación Solidaridad Amaranta, the Algeciras branch of Fundación Prolibertas, Fegadi, Nuevo Futuro in La Línea de la Concepción and La Montera in Los Barrios as winners of the 2019 edition of this solidarity program.
Eva Pajares, deputy councilor of the regional government of Andalusia in Campo de Gibraltar; Jessica Barea, Social Wellbeing manager of the district’s Union of Municipalities; Macarena Gavilán, representative of the Neighbors of Cepsa Association representing the areas around San Roque; Javier Martínez, president of the Campo de Gibraltar Press Association; and the directors of Cepsa’s chemical plant in San Roque and its refinery, Jesús Ivars and Miguel Pérez de la Blanca, assessed the 39 initiatives entered in the competition.
In her capacity as deputy councilor of the regional government of Andalusia in Campo de Gibraltar, Eva Pajares led the jury in making its decision. Miguel Pérez de la Blanca, director of the Gibraltar-San Roque refinery, and Jesús Ivars, director of the Puente Mayorga Chemical Plant, thanked the members of the jury for their participation and time spent assessing the projects. They also highlighted the work of Cepsa employees, who sponsor these social initiatives, bringing them to the attention of the company through the Social Value Awards.
Winning projects
Thanks to the Social Value Awards, Fegadi will be able to hire qualified staff to maintain functional medical rehabilitation and social welfare services for people with physical disabilities in Campo de Gibraltar; while La Montera will be able to hold the fourth edition of its charity night race for equality, 'Corre por la Igualdad.'
Meanwhile, the Fundación Prolibertas will develop its 'Casa de Acogida Marcos Criado' program, offering comprehensive services for people at risk of social exclusion, including accommodation, linguistic support, skills training and employability attributes, among other aspects. For its part, the Fundación Solidaridad Amaranta will be able to launch its 'Mujeres de Arena' project, which aims to reduce the personal, health and social risks arising from prostitution.
Finally, Nuevo Futuro will be able to redo the courtyard at its Centro de Acogida Carmen Herrero, which houses children under the care of the local government (Junta de Andalucía).
Employees’ Special Award
The jury also put forward two other projects as candidates for the Employees’ Special Award: those submitted by the Juventudes Marianas Vicencianas and Nuevo Hogar Betania.
Cepsa staff will choose three winners from among the 14 candidates for this award (two for each area in which the awards are held in Spain, Portugal, Brazil and Colombia), which will share a pot of €30,000.
