- Cepsa also provides the organization with 6,000 masks to protect the population from ash and particles from the volcano.
In line with its social commitment, and in order to collaborate with the population of La Palma affected by the volcano eruption, Fundación Cepsa has decided to collaborate in these first moments, through the Spanish Red Cross, in the provision of a psychosocial support service to help the victims cope with the difficult situation they are going through.
The director of the Foundation, Cristina Ortiz, explains that "in these difficult times it is more than necessary to join efforts in order to alleviate the effects that this social emergency is having in La Palma, where many people have lost not only their homes but also their livelihood".
In this sense, she insists that, "after noting that the basic needs of food and clothing were being covered thanks to the solidarity shown by the people of the Canary Islands and all Spain, an analysis has been made of the different alternatives for collaboration with the third sector that can contribute to softening the social impact of this situation". After this, she adds, "Fundación Cepsa has opted in these first moments to support the Red Cross in a psychosocial intervention program to emotionally assist people affected by the catastrophe".
This measure is intended not only to help alleviate social needs in the emergency phase, but also to contribute to the stabilization and recovery of these people who have suffered significant losses, helping to improve their mental and emotional state.
At this time, the Red Cross is developing an intervention process that includes the identification of the most vulnerable population with the most urgent needs, the assessment of individual needs, as well as the necessary response in each case and the support provided by its human teams.
On the other hand, Fundación Cepsa has made available to the Spanish Red Cross 6,000 masks of the FFP2 type and equivalent, which are recommended to protect the population from the ash and other particles expelled in the eruption.
Cepsa and its Foundation show their solidarity with the people of La Palma, emphasizing on this occasion to offer them tools to facilitate this complicated life situation they are going through.
