The awards ceremony, held this morning at the Cepsa Tower, was attended by the Minister of Social Policies, Family, Equality and Birth of the Community of Madrid, Javier Luengo and the President of the Fundación Cepsa and CEO of the company, Philippe Boisseau, as well as representatives of each of the recognized entities.
During the ceremony, Philippe Boisseau highlighted: "I want to thank the work of all the participating entities, which have been very numerous this year. Your generosity towards the people who need it most in these difficult times is an example for all of us. The COVID-19 pandemic has made Fundación Cepsa's activity even more important and necessary, a responsibility that we have assumed and want to continue to promote at such a unique time".
For his part, Javier Luengo expressed his gratitude to the award winners and to all the entities of the Third Sector and Social Action: "for your example of adaptation, flexibility, rapid response and closeness in a year marked by the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, where every day was a challenge and a difficulty to overcome, where inequalities have grown and where we have been presented with personal situations to which we have had to respond urgently and effectively".
Through its Social Value Awards, Fundación Cepsa recognizes the work of different entities that seek to improve the quality of life of different social groups: socially vulnerable individuals, the unemployed, the sick, people with functional diversity, ethnic minorities, children, teenagers and young adults, the elderly and victims of gender violence, among others. In addition, the initiatives of this year's 16th edition will go to benefit those affected by the COVID-19 health crisis. To this end, the foundation has increased the endowment to 500,000 euros, in addition to the usual initiatives, to promote projects aimed at alleviating the health and social effects of the pandemic. Thus, in each area where the awards are held, at least one project aimed at assisting groups affected by the pandemic has been recognized.
Since 2005, the aim of the Social Value Awards is to promote solidarity initiatives developed in areas where Cepsa has a relevant activity and established ties with the community: Canary Islands, Madrid, Huelva, Campo de Gibraltar, Portugal, Colombia and Brazil.
