- A total of 100 projects were presented for the 2018 Madrid awards
- The winners were the Síndrome de Down Madrid, Esperanza y Alegría, Menudos Corazones and Tomillo foundations
- Over 3,900 people will directly benefit from these projects
Fundación Cepsa today held the awards ceremony for its Social Value Awards in Madrid. The jury selected four winning projects from among 100 projects that were submitted in the Madrid region. These projects will receive financial support of €48,000 euros between them. The winners were:
• ‘Proyecto Mujer, Deporte y Salud. Programa de Hábitos Saludables en personas con Síndrome de Down u otra discapacidad intelectual’ ('Women, Sports and Health. Healthy Habits for People with Down Syndrome or Other Intellectual Disabilities') from the Síndrome de Down Madrid Foundation.
• ‘Social and work inclusion of unemployed young people at risk of social exclusion living in the neighborhood of El Pozo del Tío Raimundo-Entrevías’, from the Esperanza y Alegría Foundation.
• ‘Psychological support for families of children and adolescents with congenital cardiopathies’, from the Menudos Corazones Foundation.
• ‘Conect@ndo oportunidades’ (‘C@nnecting Opportunities’), from the Tomillo Foundation.
Attending the event at Cepsa Tower were Fundación Cepsa Chairman, Pedro Miró, the vice-counsellor for Social and Family Policy of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, Miriam Rabaneda, and the General Director for Social Services and Social Integration of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, Encarnación Rivero, as well as representatives from the winning entities, members of the jury and Cepsa professionals.
During the presentation, Pedro Miró highlighted the great work carried out by all the entities that participated in the Social Value Awards. He pointed out: “We hope that the Social Value Awards will provide the energy needed by the various winning initiatives to drive their projects forward. For Cepsa as well as for its Foundation, the social welfare of the areas where we operate our activity is an objective for us”.
For her part, Miriam Rabaneda congratulated the winning entities for their commendable work and highlighted "the important social action developed by Cepsa through its Foundation and through the consolidation of these Awards".
The Social Value Awards are part of a global initiative that Fundación Cepsa organizes annually in Spain (Huelva, Campo de Gibraltar, Canary Islands and Madrid), Portugal, Colombia and Brazil. Since 2005, the awards have helped develop more than 300 social projects.
In the 2018 edition, the Social Value Awards contributed over €350,000 for the winning projects to become a reality. In addition, Cepsa professionals actively participate in this program as sponsors of the 390 initiatives that were submitted in this fourteenth edition.
