- Patricia Ruiz Villalobos, Pablo Sanchidrian Herrera and Miguel Suffo Pino, honored at this year's edition of the Fundación Cepsa Chair Awards
- The Chair awards its second edition of research grants with an endowment of 40,000 euros
In the case of the Fundación Cepsa Chair Awards, which are granted to capstone and research projects, patents and publications related to the energy sector and sustainability, the committee of experts from Cepsa and the UCA decided to award the following projects for their innovation and originality, and their scientific-technological approach, as well as for their importance and applicability.
The Fundación Cepsa Chair awarded Patricia Ruiz Villalobos in the Scientific-Technical Article category for her work entitled Optimal Battery Management Strategies for Plug-in Electric Hybrid Buses on Routes Including Green Corridors. Pablo Sanchidrian Herrera has also been recognized in the Final Project category for his Offshore Wind Farm Simulator project as part of his studies.
Lastly, Miguel Suffo Pino was awarded in the invention patents category for his patent for the Portable, modular, armored enclosure, construction procedures to build the enclosure and manufacture the armored panels used for its construction and uses.
The Committee of the Fundación Cepsa Chair has also awarded four research grants in this second call, allocating 40,000 euros to promote the lines of study related to energy transition and circular economy that are being undertaken at the University of Cadiz. The winners of this edition were the following projects:
Industrial maintenance with additive manufacturing, a sustainable paradigm that promotes circular economy and energy transition by the research team led by Juan María Terreno Saeta.
Production of green hydrogen, biomethane, and biofertilizer through waste from the brewing industry within the framework of the new technology for the production of hydrogen from industrial waste by the team led by main researcher Leonor Sillero Moreno.
Technical-economic feasibility study of a hybrid thermal energy, electric and green hydrogen production plant using solar energy (H2-PVT) by the research team led by Francisco Javier González Gallero.
Finally, Bio-hydrogen Production through photofermentation and dark fermentation processes with Rhodobacter capsulatus and Escherichia coli led by researcher Antonio Valle Gallardo's team.
Since its inception in 2005, the Chair has focused on promoting and encouraging aspects related to education, research, technology transfer and dissemination. The relationship between the University of Cadiz and Cepsa dates back to the founding of the College of Technical Industrial Engineering in Algeciras, which is now the Higher School of Engineering of Algeciras. Since then, the two institutions have collaborated on numerous occasions, and have signed a wide range of specific agreements.
