The Municipal Corporation learns about Fundación Cepsa's biodiversity projects in Madrevieja

• Councilors from PSOE, PP and San Roque 100x100 visit the biological research station

Framed in the events planned by Fundación Cepsa in the Campo de Gibraltar on the occasion of the celebration of World Environment Day on June 5, part of the Municipal Corporation of San Roque has visited the Madrevieja Environmental Station, to learn about the project of recovery and enhancement of this natural area, in addition to biodiversity projects that Fundación Cepsa carries out there, highlighting the recovery of the barn owl (Tyto alba) in southern Spain that is being carried out in collaboration with the Regional Government of Andalusia (Junta de Andalucía) and the European Union.

Socialist councilors Monica Cordoba and Juan Servan, in addition to PP councilors Ángeles Córdoba and María José Gamito and the councilor of San Roque 100x100 Fernando Correro have visited Madrevieja.

The head of Fundación Cepsa in Cadiz, Estrella Blanco, highlighted that "it is important that our public authorities know firsthand the Madrevieja Environmental Station and the work being done in this place to maintain and increase biodiversity in the Campo de Gibraltar. In this task we all have to go hand in hand".

The Madrevieja Environmental Station is a research center and nature reserve owned by Fundación Cepsa, which has worked to restore this wetland since 2009. Since its inauguration in 2014, Ornitour has been working not only to preserve the area, but also to recover species and the passage of birds in this corner of Campo de Gibraltar, which is open to the public to enjoy and learn from.
