- This year, social initiatives that contribute to ecological transition will be positively evaluated.
- Fundación Cepsa raises this year's funding for the winning projects from 12,000 to 15,000 euros
Fundación Cepsa this week invited the social associations of Campo de Gibraltar to a meeting at the Palacio de Congresos de La Línea de la Concepción to inform these non-governmental organizations (NGOs) about the latest edition of the Social Value Awards 2021 and answer any questions.
The meeting was attended by about twenty associations from the region. They heard from Estrella Blanco, head of Fundación Cepsa in Campo de Gibraltar, among other details, of the main innovations for this year, which are that the endowment for the region will be 65,000 euros, to be distributed among the winners, and that this year projects that help groups in vulnerable situations and are related to sustainability, biodiversity, emissions reduction, energy transition, and the circular economy will be especially valued.
The deadline for submitting a project to the Social Value Awards ends on September 30, at 10.00 am, so that Fundación Cepsa encourages all associations in Campo de Gibraltar to submit a project and, if possible, not leave it until the deadline.
Estrella Blanco stressed that "the commitment of Fundación Cepsa to Campo de Gibraltar is solid and thanks to the Social Value Awards not only recognizes the valuable work of social organizations but also helps them to realize their projects and reach the most vulnerable sectors of society, which is the main objective."
In this latest edition, Fundación Cepsa will continue the special provision of 500,000 euros to be distributed among the winning projects, a figure that was already increased in 2020 by 100,000 euros from previous years. This provision is being maintained with the aim of continuing to support disadvantaged groups, by increasing the amount per winning project in a complex socioeconomic context for third sector organizations from €12,000 to a maximum of €15,000.
These awards are open to social projects undertaken in Madrid, the Canary Islands, Huelva, Campo de Gibraltar, Portugal, Colombia and Brazil, geographical areas in which Cepsa and its Foundation have significant activity and where they have established close ties and relations with the community.
With these awards, Fundación Cepsa recognizes the work of different organizations that seek to improve the quality of life of a broad spectrum of social groups: socially vulnerable individuals, the unemployed, the sick, people with physical or intellectual disabilities, ethnic minorities, children, teenagers and young adults, the elderly and victims of gender violence, among others.
The decision reached by each of the local panels, which include representatives from institutions working in the field of social action, will be announced in November. Next, Cepsa professionals will choose five more winning projects and will also work alongside the participating entities by acting as solidarity sponsors for all aspiring initiatives in the Social Value Awards.
Since it was first held in 2005, these awards have handed out more than three million euros to 385 projects to help improve the quality of life of over 60,000 people.
