Manuel Jesús Calvo Acosta was also recognized in the capstone project category for his work Pre-design of a Power Generation Plant through Solar + Biomass Hybridization and finally, in the Patent of Invention category, Francisco Morales Sánchez was awarded for his work Direct manufacture of thermochromic products with high VO2 load.

In addition, Clemente Villalba received a special mention for his master's thesis Project to Increase the Processing Capacity of the Solvent Distillation Unit at the Gibraltar-San Roque Refinery.

The event, which was held with the safety measures required by COVID-19, was attended by the winners, María Jesús Mosquera, vice-rector of Science Policy at the UCA; Francisco Trujillo, director of the Fundación Cepsa Chair; Ignacio Turias, general director of R&D&I at the UCA; and Estrella Blanco, representative of the Fundación Cepsa.

During the ceremony, the winning students took the opportunity to share some words about the works that had earned the recognition of the joint committee of Fundación Cepsa Chair for their innovation, originality, scientific and technological approach, relevance and applicability.

Since its inception in 2005, the Cátedra Prizes activity has focused on promoting and incentivizing aspects linked to education, research, outreach and the transfer of knowledge. The relationship between the University of Cadiz and Cepsa dates back to the founding of the College of Technical Industrial Engineering in Algeciras, and gained momentum when the School became the Polytechnic School in 1988 now the Higher School of Engineering of Algeciras. Since then, the two institutions have collaborated on numerous occasions, and have signed a wide range of specific agreements.

The Fundación Cepsa Chairs

Fundación Cepsa Chairs at the Universities of Cadiz, Huelva, Seville, La Laguna, and Polytechnic in Madrid, are continually strengthened thanks to the contributions and involvement of the Company's professionals and the academic institutions committed to improving research, training, knowledge flow and innovation.

Fundación Cepsa Chairs have allowed thousands of students to approach the labor world and bring university professors closer to the reality of the energy and chemical sectors. The exchange of knowledge and experience between Cepsa professionals, university teachers, and students has meant, for two decades, the professional enrichment of all of them. For all these reasons, today Cepsa is an outstanding partner of these universities.
