In this year, the effort in their studies of students Samuel González Parientes in the Science category and Manuel Jesús Rodríguez Fernández in Humanities was recognized. Both will receive a diploma and scholarship before the end of the year.
Estrella Blanco, head of Fundación Cepsa in the Campo de Gibraltar, noted that “Fundación Cepsa continues to support quality education, committing to academic excellence and supporting students who make an effort beyond the curricular demands of their studies, in the firm belief that support for education contributes to improving the future of the Campo de Gibraltar.”
Additionally, Rosario Arias, UNED director in the Campo de Gibraltar has indicated that “for another year, thanks to Fundación Cepsa’s commitment, two of our best students can continue their academic studies after winning the UNED+1 Awards. The joint commission not only considered their experience, but also their attitude, involvement, and academic performance. An effort that Fundación Cepsa has been granting these awards for eleven years by granting two scholarships to continue students’ education with master's studies, one in the branch of Humanities and another for the branch of Sciences. Our most sincere congratulations to the winners and our thanks to Fundación Cepsa, which, with its support, values the importance of academics to achieve greater professional and personal development for our students, thus helping to educate new professionals, who, led by honesty and responsibility, will bring these values to society to improve it.”
Cepsa, now through its Foundation, and the UNED in the Campo de Gibraltar have been collaborating for more than a decade to help students with the best records to continue their academic studies. In addition, thanks to the conferences with renowned people, experts in their fields, as part of the The UNED and the Word cycle, hundreds of students of the Universidad a Distancia and residents of Campo de Gibraltar have been able to deepen their familiarity with other issues. Some examples of this are the talks by professionals such as philosopher Fernando Savater, diplomat Inocencio Arias, journalist Rosa María Calaf, and lawyer Cristina Almeida.
