- The project called "Promoting well-being" by Afan de Lucha por los Enfermos de Alzheimer Caminar [an association that supports Alzheimer's patients] in Bollullos Par del Condado has joined the five entities from Huelva that were chosen by the local jury
- The Social Value Awards distributed more than 70,000 euros in the province of Huelva in 2020
The other projects that will become a reality thanks to the participation of Cepsa professionals are those presented by Fundación Niños de los Andes and Fundación Nacional Batuta, from Colombia; by Aldeias Infantis SOS and Junior Achievement Bahia, from Brazil; and by Afan de Lucha por los Enfermos de Alzheimer Caminar (AFA CAMINAR). These entities have received a total of 57,000 euros.
These special awards — given by Cepsa employees from among fourteen selected projects, two in each of the seven geographical areas where the Social Value Awards take place (Huelva, Madrid, Campo de Gibraltar, the Canary Islands, Portugal, Colombia and Brazil) — are proposed by the different juries from these areas. In this edition, Fundación Cepsa has also increased the number of special awards from three to five to face the current socio-economic crisis caused by the pandemic.
Just over one month ago, the jury declared the projects presented by the following entities as Social Value Award winners: the Association “A New Horizon for my Neighborhood,” the Carabela Youth Association, FEAFES-Huelva Mental Health, Cienciaterapia - the National Association for the Provision of Science Education for Children in Hospital, and the Huelva Association of Asperger’s Syndrome and mild or moderate ASD. Together, they received a total of 58,900 euros. The jury also selected two other projects as candidates for the Employees’ Special Award: the one presented by AFA CAMINAR and the one presented by the Association of People with Disabilities LA CANARIEGA from Almonte. The first one was also a winner in this "second round" as it had the support of many workers from the energy and chemical company.
Teresa Millán, Fundación Cepsa manager in Huelva, has declared that "this additional help in our province will allow us to work on health education skills, healthy habits and psychological support for Alzheimer's patients and their families or caregivers, a group that has been so badly affected in these months of the pandemic." At the same time, she thanked "Cepsa professionals, particularly those in Huelva, for supporting charitable causes in our nearby area."
Through its Social Value Awards, Fundación Cepsa recognizes the work of different organizations that seek to improve the quality of life of a broad spectrum of social groups: socially vulnerable individuals, the unemployed, the sick, people with physical or intellectual disabilities, ethnic minorities, children, teenagers and young adults, the elderly and victims of gender violence, among others.
