- 5th Grade primary school students from Sagrado Corazón de Puente Mayorga school visited the environmental station
- Among other things, the children learned about the project to recover owl populations in the province
Fundación Cepsa celebrated Nature Protection Day on Friday, October 18 by inviting 5th Grade primary school students from the Sagrado Corazón de Puente Mayorga school in San Roque to visit its Madrevieja Environmental Station.
25 students in total from the school spent a playful and educational day at Madrevieja, the environmental station which is now ten years old and which is managed by Fundación Cepsa. The activity leaders explained to the children that the station is home to between 800 and 1000 species, and that more than 5500 birds have been ringed since it started operating.
The students from Puente Mayorga already know how to track an animal, what a nest box is and how to make one, and how important it is to be silent in natural surroundings to be able to enjoy the fauna. They also got first-hand insight into the project to recover owl populations that Fundación Cepsa launched, in collaboration with the Regional Government of Andalusia, at the Madrevieja Environmental Station, where regional authorities will be sending any fledgling owls found in the province of Cadiz.
